100,000 sessions on Musiques d'Afrique

Only 8 days after the mark of the 500,000 page views, we reached 100,000 web visit sessions, according to Gostats.org (since 14 April 2014). Thank you to all our readers/visitors, and Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for 2020, (or as we say in Dutch "have a nice old and new" :-)

Half a million pageviews on our main site Musiques d'Afrique

If a website is more than 20 years old, it is difficult to track page views and visitor numbers over such a long period of time, as web counters sometimes tend to disappear, probably because they are facing harsh competition from services such as Google Analytics. Changing hosting provider does not help either...! Bearing this in mind, we are nevertheless proud to see that our Gostats widget shows an important number of page views on the 15th of December:

The real number is undoubtedly higher, as not all pages are currently being counted (for technical reasons). Also, we cumulated stats from the web host until 2014 to the Gostats statistics, because we are using Gostats since April 2014. We also lost some data in the transition from Gostats.com to Gostats.org. The figure of 500,000 page views reflects visits since the start of the web site in late 1997 (with very few visitors in the first years). The number of sessions and number of visitors, however, are counted only since April 2014, so these figures cannot be compared to the number of page views. As you can see, we will reach 100,000 web sessions in a few days.

You might know our main website Frank Bessem's Musiques d'Afrique: http://www.musiques-afrique.com.

The site has not been updated since October 27. This has to with the web hosting company, Yahoo Small Business, which is in the process of being separated from Yahoo under a new name Aabaco Small Business. Renewal of another year has been done on our side, but but this has not been taken into account on their side, which means that we cannot update the site since more than 3 weeks now. 

Due to the very poor customer service no progress is made in solving this problem.

In case you are worried, the site is not going to disappear or being abandoned, we hope the problems will be solved and new content will be added soon.

Please be patient, because we are about to lose patience, but we will be back!

Update 28-11-2015: the problem has been taken to another level of customer support and should be taken care of in a few days. 

Update 02-12-2015: GOOD NEWS! Problems have been solved, and the website can be updated again as of today, and has been updated today!
 

Senemali In Amsterdam

Memory Lane..

I found this excerpt from a Senemali concert the other day, it was a gift that I was not expecting ever to see. The band, with lead singer Mola Sylla, was created in Senegal, but was later based in the Netherlands. They made two great albums, and Senemali was at the time referred to as a super band, but unfortunately the dream didn't last.
